Car crash TV… on the interweb
Something happened the day before yesterday that has instantly gone all over this old interweb – and I’m finding it hard to look away. Sadly, “the author” Jacqueline Howett, probably what I’m seeing called an ‘Indie publisher’ had a review of her book on Big Al’s Books and Pals blog which she took issue with. Strongly. The resulting online melt-down in something to behold and If you’ve got 10 or 15 minutes to read the comments, and want a giggle, head over here and have a look. I’m not even finished reading and I find myself shaking my head in...
Is it just me?
Another sign of impending age – i.e. I’m getting old – wait for it… Youf these days… There I said it. We went to see the rather wonderful Imelda May at the Roundhouse in Camden last night. She was fantastic and I have to say I was impressed with the wall of sound her four-piece made behind her. They pretty much blew the roof off on a great St Patrick’s night. I was rather suprised in the next couple of days to get a message that Edward James Olmos (I’ll call him EJO from now on) was following me on Twitter. Really? And yes, there he was! One of his other followers...
World Book Day & Night 2011
It’s World Book Day today – well, in the UK and Republic of Ireland (something about avoiding school holidays, not a need to be different). Originally organised by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and copyright, the day is normally held on St George’s Day, April 23rd, in the rest of the world. There’s lots going on for kids during the Day, including some at libraries currently scheduled for closure – I’m pretty sure this isn’t intended to be ironic. And as night follows, er, day (sorry), World Book Night launches Friday in Trafalgar Square with loads of authors reading, prior...
